Scars occur after injury to normal skin, causing the formation of fibrous tissue in the injured area. Scar formation is a normal biological process of wound healing when the dermis damaged. The appearance of scarring can be improved with treatment, however cannot eliminate the scars completely. Scars can fade away over time and become less noticeable or bothersome.
Types of Scar
- Acne Scars – deep indentations, permanently discolored skin, large pores
- Hypertrophic Scars- red, raised, stay within original wound margin
- Keloid scars – excessive scar tissue produce with injury, larger than original wound margin
- Contracture scars – due to second or third degree burn, limited movement
- Laser skin resurfacing
- Minor Surgery
