Fat Transfer (Fat Grafting)
Conveniently located to serve Houston and Sugar Land

Fat Transfer (Fat Grafting) Sunken cheeks, hollowed eyes, wrinkles, and deep furrows can be improved by fat transfer (fat grafting) in Houston. Fat transfer can also help restore lost volume to areas of the body like the breasts, backs of the hands, and buttocks to improve their fullness.

What Is a Fat Transfer?

During a fat transfer, excess fat is harvested from other body areas (commonly the abdomen), processed, and reinjected into volume-depleted body areas to transform their appearance. The advantage of fat transfer is to improve features naturally and can used to address skin atrophic area that needs volume restoration such as smile lines, laugh lines, lips, crow’s feet, skin depressions, acne scars, sunken cheeks, eyebrows (eyebrow lift), and any skin atrophic areas or body areas.

Fat transfer is relatively safe with less risk of allergic reactions or rejections since it is your own fat. Our body’s fatty tissue contains an abundance of powerful stem cells which make it an ideal skin rejuvenation filler. Stem cells are naturally occurring cells that self-renew and have a unique ability to transform themselves into specialized cell types in any area injected. As such, fat transfer rejuvenates the skin and the stem cells work by releasing growth factors that enhance tissue healing, induce the growth of new blood vessels, improve texture and appearance of skin, and improve hollow areas of skin.

Ideal Candidates for a Fat Transfer

Ideal candidates for fat grafting are individuals who have a positive outlook and realistic cosmetic goals. If you want to smooth away wrinkles, eliminate hollow areas, improve the contours of your face, or enhance various body parts, a fat transfer may be an ideal procedure for you.

To be a good candidate, you will need to be in good overall health, be at a stable weight, and have no bleeding disorders.

Your Fat Grafting Consultation

The stem cell fat-transfer procedure is customized based on your own individual aging process and aesthetic goals. Dr. Daisy Ayim will ask you about your desired results. Dr. Ayim will also evaluate your target areas to tailor the best treatment plan for you.

A discussion of your medical history will be done. You will be asked about your underlying conditions, current medications, allergies, and past cosmetic procedures.

The Procedure

Performed at Ayim Aesthetic, the fat-transfer procedure starts with harvesting the fat from the donor areas. It will be done via liposuction, wherein a cannula will be inserted through tiny incisions to suck out unwanted excess fat from your thighs, buttocks, or stomach.

The fatty tissue will then be processed to separate the healthy fat cells and remove impurities. The healthy fat cells will then be precisely injected into the target areas by Dr. Ayim.

Recovery and Aftercare

There is little or no downtime with fat grafting and long term results are satisfying. Application of an ice pack on the treated areas for the first couple hours after treatment will help lessen the side effects. Expect swelling, bruising, and tenderness on the donor and treated areas. These issues should disappear after a few days.

You can go back to your normal activities a week after your fat transfer procedure. You will need to come in for a follow-up appointment to ensure that healing is as expected.

Fat Transfer Cost

The cost of fat transfer (fat grafting) varies from patient to patient depending on the extent of work done. Anesthesia fees will also affect the overall price for your individualized treatment, as will the time required to perform the procedure.
