Breast Lift

Conveniently located to serve Houston and Sugar Land

Breast LiftA breast lift is designed to reshape the breasts and give them a more youthful appearance. Also known as a mastopexy, this cosmetic procedure addresses breast sagging, loss of shape or volume, asymmetry, and droopy areola.

Why Do Breasts Sag?

Causes of sagging breasts:

  • Aging
  • Hereditary
  • Pregnancy
  • Nursing
  • Fluctuations of weight

Breast Lift Options

There are different approaches when it comes to performing a breast lift, and scaring varies depending on the technique. Dr. Ayim will choose the incision approach based on the amount of sagging present. A donut incision removes the smallest amount of tissue, a lollipop incision removes more tissue, and an inverted-T incision removes the most tissue.

At times, additional procedures such as a breast augmentation may be necessary to achieve your desired outcome. Combining breast augmentation with a breast lift surgery is especially useful for increasing cup size while reducing breast sag.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

The best candidates for mastopexy surgery are women who don’t smoke or drink and aren’t on any heavy prescription medications. Ideal candidates are in good overall health and have realistic expectations in terms of results.

Good candidates are not interested in getting pregnant after the surgery. Pregnancy and breastfeeding cause changes in the shape and size of the breasts. If you get a breast lift before your pregnancy, the results of the procedure may be negatively affected. Thus, if you intend to get pregnant, it’s recommended that you delay the breast lift until after breastfeeding is finished.

Your Breast Lift Consultation

Before the procedure is performed, Dr. Ayim will sit down with you for a consultation. The two of you will go over your complete medical history, and she will perform an examination. A baseline mammogram may be recommended. You may also have to undergo a baseline mammogram after the surgery. This is done to gauge the condition of the breast tissue after the surgery compared to what it was before.

A breast lift is one of the most technically demanding cosmetic procedures and can deliver drastic results. It is important to discuss your desired outcome during your consultation to ensure you receive satisfactory results.

The Procedure

A breast lift can be performed as an outpatient procedure and usually takes between two to three hours to complete. After anesthesia has been administered, the chosen incisions will be made. Excess skin will then be removed with a scalpel. The areolae may be resized and/or repositioned as needed.

Once all changes have been made, the incisions will be closed with the help of sutures, which will need to be removed during a follow-up visit.

Breast Lift Recovery

After the mastopexy procedure, you can return home the same day. A degree of swelling and bruising will be present but will fade in time. You can resume your normal daily activities within ten to fourteen days after the operation.

The initial results of a breast lift are immediately noticeable, and the shape of the breasts will continue to settle through the healing process. Once all swelling is gone, full results can be seen.

“Dr Ayim is great and very nice person. She is so confident and perfect. Her nature is lovely and I will definitely refer her to anyone!”

How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?

The cost of a breast lift procedure depends on the details of the surgery. The exact techniques used, the amount of tissue removed, and the duration of the surgery all affect the overall price of mastopexy.
