Conveniently located to serve Houston and Sugarland

Body Lift | Arm Lift | Thigh LiftDr. Daisy Ayim regularly performs body-contouring procedures like the body lift, arm lift, and thigh lift for Houston patients. Body-contouring surgeries are designed to remove excess sagging skin and deposits of stubborn fat. This creates better-defined curves and a slimmer appearance.

When Are These Procedures Needed?

Excess skin can form due to various reasons:

  • Dramatic weight loss
  • Damage from exposure to the sun
  • Pregnancy (after childbirth)
  • The aging process (due to the natural loss of skin elasticity)

When drooping skin forms, no amount of exercise can tighten it. Surgical procedures like the body lift, arm lift, and thigh lift are required to trim away the excess and tighten the remaining skin.

Preparation

Before your body lift, arm lift, or thigh lift, you will meet with Dr. Ayim for an initial consultation in our Houston office. She will advise you on precautions to be followed, like stopping smoking and avoiding taking blood thinners.

She will also go over your complete medical history and perform an examination to ensure that the procedure is right for you. People in good health with stable body weight are ideal candidates, as are non-smokers.

Body Lift

The body lift is a comprehensive combination of surgeries that effectively removes excess skin in the waist, abdomen, groin, thighs, and buttocks. Women planning another pregnancy should not undergo this procedure, since pregnancy can negatively affect the appearance of its results.

It must be noted that the body lift is not a weight-loss procedure; rather, it is specifically designed to remove sagging skin and small amounts of fat.

General anesthesia is usually used for this procedure since it involves treating multiple areas during a single surgical session. The incisions to be made depend on the areas where excess skin needs to be removed. Usually, a circular incision is created around the body.

Excess skin is then removed. The muscles may be tightened, and excess stubborn fatty deposits are suctioned away using liposuction. The skin is then redraped and tightened, and sutures are used to close the incision. Around six to eight weeks are needed for complete recovery.

Arm Lift

An arm lift, also called brachioplasty surgery, is a cosmetic procedure used to remove fat and skin from the upper arms. It is ideal for patients experiencing “bat wings” (also called “bingo wings”), sections of skin hanging down from the upper arms.

The procedure in Houston is usually done using a combination of local anesthesia and sedation. An incision is made on the arm’s underside, typically from the elbow to the armpit. The exact length of the incision depends on the amount of excess skin and fat.

Liposuction is then used to remove excess fat. The underlying tissues are re-adjusted. Excess skin is removed, and the remaining skin is then redraped over the new contours. Sutures are used to close the incisions.

Care needs to be taken not to strain the arms for a few weeks, and heavy lifting is prohibited. After a few weeks, healing is complete and the results of the arm lift can be seen.

Thigh Lift

A thigh lift, also known as thighplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure done to contour the thighs and legs by removing excess skin and stubborn fat from the thighs. People with these issues may look out of shape and may feel self-conscious about wearing swimwear, shorts, and tight clothing.

Usually, general anesthesia is used for the thigh lift, though local anesthesia with sedation may also be an option. The incision made depends on the type of thigh lift being performed. An incision can be created in the inner thigh, outer thigh, or in the groin area.

After the incisions are made, sagging skin is removed with a scalpel. Liposuction is performed to remove pockets of fat. After redraping and tightening the skin, sutures are used to close the incisions.

Thigh lift recovery takes around 4 to 6 weeks before the results are visible. It will be important to avoid strenuous activities like sports and heavy exercise.

Body Lift Cost in Houston

The body lift, arm lift, and thigh lift vary in cost based on the specific details of each patient’s case. The prices of these body-contouring procedures are determined by the amount of tissue being removed, the amount of time the surgical session takes, the type of anesthesia administered, and many other factors.
